Working under the direction of Fire Scientist Carol L. Rice, we developed maps that could be used by individual home owners to managing their property to provide the best protection against wildfire. Part of an overall fire risk assessment for this community.

Foresta CWPP WUI Rings, Yosemite National Park, CA

This simple map depicts each home in Foresta, a 100ft buffer around each home and the WUI (Wildland Urban/Interface) Zones around the community. Part of a larger document that aims to identify fire hazards and risk throughout and surrounding the community.

Mokelumne Watershed Assessment, Sierra Nevada, CA

Treatment Optimization Module is a program sub-routine in the FlamMap software that allows the user to delineate optimize fuel treatment locations to better effect fire behavior. Along with fire behavior predictions, this map was used in an overall watershed assessment aimed to reduce fire impacts to watershed services.

Kobeh Valley Water Level Map, NV

Displaying hundreds of points on a map isn't always the best looking map but may be necessary to convey natural phenomenon. This map was used to help the reader determine ground water levels in a desert watershed in central Nevada.

Stream Restoration, Folsom, CA

Working with Trinity Environmental, this map was developed as one alternative for a private owner to adopt. The project involved a stream and wetland restoration project that would take advantage of on-site riparian features and build new channel and locations for wetland development. Stream cross section scenarios were developed as part of the map.

Martis Valley National Recreation Area, Trail Alignment, Truckee, CA

A simple map made for a local National Recreation Area grant application for trail alignment and rehabilitation. The grant was successful and each phase has been completed except for the last.

Truckee River Watershed Council Project Locations, Truckee, CA

I created this map for a local non-profit that aims to increase watershed/ecosystem health. In anticipation of an upcoming board meeting, this map was used to identify all the past projects the non-profit was able to complete as well as locations that are in critical need of restoration and/or mitigation.
